Harout and Charles Aznavour: the documented connection

A photograph published by The Armenian Weekly in July 2026 shows Harout Pamboukjian with Charles Aznavour. The caption credits the image to Harout’s courtesy. It provides a clear record of the two artists together, although it gives neither a date nor a location for the photograph.
The client archive contains another photograph of the two artists, shown here with Aznavour holding an honorary Hollywood star plaque. Contemporary reporting documents a presentation by Senator Kevin de León at the Pantages Theatre on October 27, 2016. The plaque offers a useful lead, but the archive file has no original caption confirming that this photograph was taken at that ceremony.
There is also a documented musical connection. Harout’s 2018 official video for Yerb sirum es indz credits Aznavour as author and Perch Turabyan as translator. In 2019, a separate newspaper report described a tribute for Aznavour’s ninety-fifth birth anniversary, with a French-to-Armenian translation by Avo Harutyunyan.
These sources support the photograph and the song credits. They do not establish when the artists first met, how often they met or what they discussed. The image is presented with that uncertainty intact, alongside links to the recordings and reporting that can be verified.
